Getting Started at Vida Kids Therapy
Starting therapy for your little one can feel like a big step. Here's everything parents usually want to know — and if we missed something, just call or text us at (424) 724-0944. We love these questions.
Do you take insurance?
We're an out-of-network provider, which means you pay VKT directly and we give you a superbill — an itemized receipt — after your visits. You submit it to your insurance company, and depending on your plan's out-of-network benefits, they reimburse you directly for part of the cost.
How do I find out what my insurance will reimburse?
Call the member services number on your insurance card and ask three questions: Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient pediatric physical, occupational, or speech therapy? Is there a deductible I need to meet first? What percentage is reimbursed per visit? Five minutes on that call tells you almost everything.
How much do sessions cost?
We'll walk you through current rates and payment options when you reach out — that way we can talk about exactly what your child needs, not a one-size-fits-all number.
What about Early Start / Westside Regional Center?
We partner with Westside Regional Center through California's Early Start program. For eligible infants and toddlers, services may be funded through the regional center rather than paid privately — if your child has a regional center referral or you think they may qualify, mention it when you call and we'll point you in the right direction.
What's the first step?
Call, text, or book online. We'll have a quick screening chat about your child and your concerns, and then schedule an evaluation with the right therapist. The evaluation is where the real magic starts — it's how we get to know your child and build their plan.
What happens at the evaluation?
To your child, it mostly looks like playing. Your therapist observes and assesses skills through play while you share your child's history and your goals. Afterward you'll get our findings and a recommended plan for moving forward.
Do I stay with my child during sessions?
Yes — family is at the heart of how we work. Caregivers are welcome in sessions, and your therapist will coach you on ways to keep the progress going at home, because the best therapy doesn't end when the session does.
Do we need a doctor's referral to start?
No referral is needed to reach out or schedule. In some situations a physician's referral is helpful along the way — we'll let you know during scheduling if that applies to you.
Where do sessions happen?
Wherever works best for your family: our Brentwood and Westchester clinics, your home, or virtually through telehealth. We're open Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:30 PM, by appointment.
